Organized, large-scale Kamikaze attacks began during the Philippines campaign and continued until the end of WWII. Young Japanese volunteers with minimal flight training, sacrificed themselves by the hundreds! Prestige targets--battleships and carriers--were hit, but most of the damage was done to destroyers on picket duty. Here are the accounts of those few who survived and they are MESMERIZING!!
