Description
This is an original World War 2 color drawing by a Japanese POW with hand written Hiragana (cursive) script. Red two character title below (our camp?). The large 14 3/4 by 12 inch sheet was folded twice and has a field Joint Intelligence unit stamp on the lower left side reverse. The scene is painted in watercolor paint by hand and titled in black with very thin brush in Japanese cursive. I tried to read it but could only figure out something like "inside our camp, etc. etc". It is done on a rag cotton woven paper probably supplied by the camp administration.Paper is age toned a bit. Scene shows three prisoners laying down sleeping with their head on red, white, and blue pillows with ration boxes. The prisoners look as though they were given US POW uniforms.
Very unusual and should probably be in a war museum collection. Completely guaranteed to be authentic.
