    Description

For your consideration, the smallest jacket I’ve ever offered! A young boy’s summer sack jacket cut from ivory/cream off-white open-weave Palm Beach Tropical cloth in a quintessential midcentury look—natural shouldered, notch lapel, three-button closure, center vent, undarted, fully canvassed, fully lined, two button sleeve. Can’t get more adorable than this! Made of Palm Beach Cloth, and retailed through the Best & Co. department store, New York, NY, c.1950s/1960s. Excellent vintage condition, several scattered spots; Size 7 Regular (best suited for a child about 6 or 7 years of age).
Founded by Albert Best in 1879 as a clothing company for infants and children (earning it the nickname “the Liliputian Bazaar”), it eventually expanded into women’s clothing and accessories. At its height, Best & Co. boasted twenty branches and a flagship store on Fifth Avenue (its exterior visible during a scene in The Godfather). The business was liquidated by its parent company in 1971.
