1948 WW2 Japanese Imperial Officers Visor Hat Great Empire Navy Merchant WWII

Vintage WWII Japanese Officer's Visor Hat. I am unsure of the exact rank, origin, and detailed historical information but my research is bringing up mentions of the "Great Japanese Empire", Imperial Officer's Hat, Kepi, and Navy Merchant Marine when I find similar items. The tag inside the hat is stamped "48". Google translate is showing this as Made in 1948 as well as the manufacturing company. Color is dark navy and is generally excellent condition except for a few moth holes on the top and dust/lint.
This is a used item and and could show signs of wear not completely visible in the photos or fully described - refer to photos and description. I have not attempted to clean the item in any way; it could show various scuffs, scratches, paint wear, or paint/ink marks. Camera flash may make some scuffs/marks/etc difficult to see in the photos as well as alter  the true color of the pieces (individual computer monitors or phones may also display colors differently).
