    Condition
    : As shown in the five scans, above – Light wear. Noticeable soil here and there including some stray bits of postal ink on the back. There's a bit of yellowing in the paper as well.
    Mailed from Peking / Beijing to Los Angeles.
    The year date in the postmark is 1937, but this stamp… as best I can determine… wasn’t issued until 1947.
    And, just to add another level of confirmation to the wrong-ness of the year date, I asked the Beverly Hills Public Library about the company whose return address is on the back of the flap, Tropic Treasures Company of Beverly Hills, California and the very helpful research person there replied, “I checked the city directories and Tropical Treasures Company first appears in 1940 and their last entry is in 1954.”
    So not only did the stamp not exist in 1937, neither did the cover.
