Description
1941 commercial cover and letter from J. Wray & Nephew, Ltd. of Kingston, Jamaica, British West Indies (B.W.I.) to Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. The vendors were self-designated wine and spirit merchants, as well as rum distributors and blenders. In their February 10, 1941 letter, they present the recipient with a copy of their cocktail recipe booklet, for use with the seller's Dagger Rum. (The booklet has since been separatedfrom
the cover and is not included in this lot.) Despite ongoing World War II (WWII), this cover bears no censor markings.
The cover has a postmark reading February 2, 1941 (Kingston), and it is franked with one 2D Jamaican stamp. It is in excellent, clean condition.
The letter is in likewise
excellent, clean condition, with just three folds.
It is an unusual piece ready to enhance any collection of Jamaican postal history.
