1938 Registered from Gambia to London, England (3 Stamps)

Description

1938 registered (handwritten No. R0691/63) envelope sent from Gambia to London, England.  The envelope was clearly intended to eventually be sold as an
item of postal history, given that it was sent by the Philatelic Department of Selfridge & Co., Ltd. to itself.  It is franked with
one 1d, one 1 1/2d, and one 3d Gambian stamps.  It has four cancellations reading March 31, 1938 (Registered G.P.O. Gambia), and it also has a red, hand-stamped "C" at top right.  There is also a blue cross-hatch on front and reverse, presumably indicating a registered letter envelope.
The stamps are quite attractive and on a cover from a very exotic location.  The cover is in excellent, clean
condition.
It is an interesting piece ready to enhance any collection of British colonial or Gambian postal history.
